Amazon is a seeking for an experienced Product Manager–Technical (BI) to support business operations and growth in Amazon Japan. The role’s primary responsibilities are to support and continuously improve the business operations, software tools, and automation used cross functionally to accelerate product and brand variety expansion of all product categories and platforms. This will be achieved by supporting the global automated vendor software initiative for stake holders and deliver world class experience of Amazon Japan suppliers. It is a high-visibility global-facing role within Amazon and requires the ability to be a Business Intelligence and data expert as well as motivated to take on Project Manager responsibilities with strong English communication, schedule management, and presentation skills for senior level management and a large number of global stakeholders ranging from Program Managers, Vendor Managers to Developers. Technical (BI) Project Manager will be primarily responsible to rapidly improve vendor’s performance and expansion on the Amazon platforms by leveraging their expert skills with large data from across various departments and systems and frequently analyze and create logics from SQL queries to strategic program direction. Additionally, take complete ownership of and create insightful reports and easy data tools to analyze both internally and for stakeholders for accelerated growth opportunities. This role will also have the opportunity to take on the responsibilities of Project Manager as well, interacting with business teams to identify and simplify vendor’s needs, core issues, diving deep into the data and systems, and designing scalable, self-service, automated where possible, solutions.
This position will be in the Mass Vendor Relations (MVR) team, within the Retail Division, a heavy user of these software tools, but will interact cross functionally with all global business groups routinely. The candidate must demonstrate strong English communication skills and possess a high level of business acumen in order to work with business owners and deliver analysis that leads to business actions. Above all the candidate is passionate about working with huge data sets and is someone that loves to answer business questions and take the initiative to drive big change.
Key responsibilities include:
· Create insightful reporting tools, data, and analysis in a clear and timely manner.
· Support the users of the data and reports for fast actionability.
· Work with business teams to analyze and identify core issues to determine improvement opportunities.
· Use data to develop key business insights to accelerate business impact.
· Support initiatives with data sets and automation to meet project launch schedules.
· Improve existing reporting by means of automating, simplifying, and incorporating change requests.
· Partner with global teams to identify and implement improvements.
· Dive deep into large sets of data to answer specific business questions, with Excel, SQL or other data manipulation languages.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· A bachelor's degree, preferably in an analytical field - e.g. Computer Science, Economics, Operations, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years of relevant work experience in data science, business analytics, business intelligence (BI), or comparable experience in other big data environments.
· Strong proficiency at querying relational databases - e.g. Oracle SQL Developer, ETL, Data Warehouse, Redshift.
· Expert skills in Microsoft Excel, VBA and SQL, (prior data mining experience a plus) .
· Experience in automating reporting and serving up datasets for business user consumption.
· Attention to detail and capability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
· Design, implement, and support key datasets that provide structured and timely access to actionable business information addressing stakeholder needs.
· Experience to gather stakeholder requirements and own automated end-to-end reporting solutions.
· Experience to partner with Project Managers, Business owners, and Business intelligence engineers.
· Experience to develop complex queries for ad hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
· Strong verbal/written English communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
· Japanese language skills not required.
· Ability to work with limited direction and keen sense of vendor’s and stakeholder’s implicit needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Advanced degree in business, statistics, or similar field
· Demonstrated project management skills
· Experience working within a high-growth, technology company
· Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting tools. (OBIEE, Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, MicroStrategy, SSAS Cubes, etc.).
