We are looking for a Software Development Manager for AWS UI development – this team will be in charge of web and mobile user experiences for all AWS Database Services properties. This includes the AWS Management console for Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon RDS, Amazon ElastiCache and more.
AWS Database Services businesses deliver tremendous value to thousands of customers, but they are still in their infancy. Over the next few years, together they will represent a very large business for Amazon. This team has the significant role to play in how developers perceive and experience each of our services. As manager of this team, you will have a key role in defining the technical and business direction of AWS Database Services as well.
You will be responsible for leading a team of Software Development Engineers to create world-class production-quality UI, including the AWS Management Console. You must be willing to insist on the highest standards for quality, maintainability, and performance. You will ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be highly available and usable. You will own the goals and roadmap of your engineering team and will have a major stake in the strategic direction of your software. You will demonstrate strong leadership as you control your own destiny in Amazon's ownership oriented culture.

· 5+ years of experience managing a team of at least 10 software development engineers
· Experience managing development managers.
· Track record of building and delivering mission critical, 24x7 production software systems
· Experience and passion for simple and highly usable websites and UI.
· Familiarity with UX design and interaction models, and ability to partner well with design and creative teams.
· Deep understanding of engineering best practices
· Strong understanding of web site and web services technology
· Understanding of agile project management methodologies
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

· High degree of familiarity with AWS or similar cloud services
· Experience managing cross-functional disciplines of development, test and operational roles
