Amazon Appstore in Japan began in 2012, and since then, we have worked to bring new experiences to customers through innovations like Amazon Coins, a virtual currency unique to the Amazon Appstore, and Fire TV, a streaming media player that makes a large selection of movies, TV programs, and games available to customers in the comfort of their own homes. What will you help us create?
As an Amazon Engineer you will:
· Help drive the architecture and technology choices that enable a world-class user experience
· Utilize various metrics sources to deliver rapid iterations of software features
· Solve difficult problems with elegant and practical code
· Raise the bar on quality, consistency, maintainability, efficiency, security and all the other things that make great software
· Help define engineering best practices and provide technical mentor-ship to other members of the engineering team
· Participate as an engineering leader in the larger group of Amazon.com companies

· BS in Computer Science, Math or Physics
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, etc.
· 4+ years relevant work experience in software development
· Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as Java (preferred), Objective C or C++
· Fluent in English and Japanese
· Deep understanding of the Japanese culture

· Strong analytical thinker who knows how to pick the right tool for the job
· Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including Agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience working in Unix/Linux environment
· Proven track record of building Android applications, iOS applications, and alike.
· Experience developing dynamic web applications utilizing JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, React, React Native and AJAX – including strong knowledge of web security models and writing safe JavaScript code
